From Uncle Tom’s Cabin (or Life among the Lowly) by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Many, many thanks for all of the help and support. You are a genuine article.
The Channel Family - The love of your family goes a long way.
Melissa White – The ultimate cheerleader and the best big sister I never had.
Vanessa Reid – Positivity and then some. Let me turn her apartment into a giant pincushion/studio, showed me what self-confidence looks like.
The Britex Fabrics Family – This is where I go almost everyday to earn my bread and butter, and some days I am not happy about having to do this (I want to be making art!). They put up with my moods, and give me space to do and learn from the materials of my trade. I get to put my mitts on some of the fanciest fabrics and notions that are known to woman (ok, and man). Being around other creative types has given me space to be myself in ways I never imagined possible. I list some of the most direct contributors below.
Marina Vasilevsky – If I were ever to co-create a line with anybody it would be her. She has that special mix of aesthetic savvy and technical know-how that any would-be designer looks for in a partner. Also, she is pretty, and shiny, and happy. Check out her talent.
Ryan Grant-Hays – Donated 5.5 yards of fabric and has been a supportive friend since day 1.
Maya “The Button Lady” Gorokhovskaya – Donated 4 lengths of fabric and constantly tells me how talented I am.
The Million Fishes Family - I am so lucky to live with so many generous and giving artists. I am constantly amazed by these folks. I’m so glad to call this my home.
No no don’t thank me
It’s just how my suit is stitched
I’m cut from a different cloth
I’m just who the shoe fits
